E-cigarettes as medicines in Britain
Beginning with 2016 e-cigarettes in Britain will be licensed as a non-prescription medicine. And the product won't disappear from stores as well.

Under the new British system, manufacturers will have to prove the quality of their products and show that they deliver the correct amount of nicotine. With this they will not need to conduct clinical trials.

According to experts, such approach will make e-cigarettes get into that type of medicine officially prescribed by doctors - despite of those currently on the market. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency claims that existing e-cigarettes on the market are not good enough.

An estimated 1.3 million people in Britain use electronic cigarettes, which release vaporized nicotine.
