China. About smoking. Part 1
Recently in Beijing took place two sessions - CPPCC session (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and NPC session (National People's Congress). Deputies of the sessions have actively discussed questions of further social-economical development of the country. During sessions many deputies discussed some universal problems that concern everyone, even foreigners who live in Beijing.
To such questions refers smoking control. From January 1st 2011 in all closed public places, including closed office rooms, public transport, was introduced full ban on smoking.
PRC Ministry of health together with other Health agencies have implemented Decision about whole smoking ban in healthcare system. Since then smoking in many restaurants and snack bars is prohibited.
But this year deputies moved on and have launched campaign "agencies without tobacco" and "sessions without tobacco". Moreover, already now is active ban on presenting cigarettes in form of a gift - old office traditions. Those, who will serve others and present tobacco products, will be punished.
Why in the country is led so active anti nicotine propaganda? The matter is that China is the most smoking country. 300 million people smoke here. About one third of world volume of consumed cigarettes falls to China.
