The Camels are coming!
We all know about teaser ad the aim of which to grip the attention of a buyer with something provocative and outstanding. But few people know that the very first teaser ad was used for Camel cigarettes appearing on the US market.
It didn't take too long for the tobacco company to realize that "camel" on the pack is not only eye-catching image but also a great character for sales promotion.
So how it was? Few days before the initial lot of cigarettes came on the market, experts from the company sent out quite catching "teasers" to almost ninety US cities. The first one read as follows: "Camels", the next - "The Camels are coming!" and "Tomorrow there'll be more CAMELS in this town than in all Asia and Africa combined!"
Thrilled citizens greeted the truth with fervor and: ""Camel" cigarettes are here!". The sales pitch turned out to be so successful that almost all smokers tried Camel.
