Swedish surgeons refuse to operate on smokers
The Swedish Medical Society made a shocking statement: surgeons won't operate on patients if they are smokers unless live saving measures are needed.
It should be mentioned that there are about 15% of smokers in Sweden. So, it turns out that 15% of citizens are declared to be second-class people who don't deserve full treatment.
Such decision was made by The Swedish Medical and Surgical Societies. From this time smokers can lay their account on operation only being on the edge of death. Otherwise they should quit smoking to go under the knife.
Maria Larsson, Minister for Elderly Care and Public Health, considers such smoking control method to be acceptable and even too liberal.
