Anti-tobacco campaign kicks into gear in lots of countries. And the efforts its followers undertake are not wasted. More and more smokers ask themselves: maybe it's time to quit?
It's a well-known fact that abrupt quitting may provoke various health problems. That's why doctors recommend gradually reducing of cigarettes smoked per day.
The huge research has been carried out for 20 years. 51000 men and women participated in this study. All the people were between 20-34 years old. They all were heavy smokers and smoked not less than 15 cigarettes per day.
It was discovered that cutting down smoking increases the risk of deaths from heart disease, lung cancer and other tobacco-related illnesses. Moreover, it was claimed that abrupt quitting is especially dangerous for women as female immune system overreacts to the lack of nicotine.
