No More Cigarettes for Russian Soldiers
Russia's new defense minister prepared the document according to which cigarettes are excluded from the ration. The resolution is to come into force till the end of the current year.
The initiator of the project is the Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
For today the troops' ration includes 10 cigarettes with filter and three match folders per day. Non-smokers may have caramel or sugar cubes instead.
Analytics say that new rules may provoke military hazing. If soldiers have no cigarettes, they would force recruits to supply them with tobacco.
Note that anti-smoking campaign implies the increase of cigarettes price from the beginning of 2014.
