Turkey Against Hookah
According to the new law, issued by the Turkish government recently, hookah smoking in public places is no longer permitted. This initiative gave rise to the wave of indignation among the owners of various bars and restaurants. They all fear such measures could damage their business completely.
The new law came into force at the end of January. The most inventive businessmen made special smoking areas on sidewalks.
It should be mentioned that the hookah was very popular under the Ottoman Empire but soon was replaced by cigarettes under the Turkish Republic from 1923.
According to the last research hookah is even more dangerous that cigarettes smoking. But hardly such statements stop hookah-lovers from smoking their favorite fruity tobacco.
