Cigarette at the wheel costs 1.5 thousand Euros in Greece
Greece has introduced ban for smoking on transport in which are present children younger than 12 years old. This ban applies both on private cars and taxi and buses. Besides, this norm applies to all passengers and drivers as well. In case of claim violation the driver of private transport will have to pay penalty in amount of 1.5 thousand Euros.
Smoking in public transport Greece authorities have estimated even more strictly - 3 thousands Euro. Besides, driver that has violated the norm will have the driving license suspended for a month. This limitation applies only on Greece territory that is why tourists will be able to take to the wheel as soon as they leave country's borders.
According to data of Europe-wide research "Eurobarometer", approximately 40 per cent of Greece population smokes. And people of this country have absolute superiority on smoked cigarettes quantity - more than 23 for one smoker a day.
Greece is notable for liberal rules of nicotine contained products sale, low for EU level of excise taxes on tobacco products. It is allowed to smoke almost in all Greek coffee shops and restaurants.
